Hana Soukupova was born in Karlovy Vary, Czechoslovakia (now in the Czech Republic). Because of her height, she began playing basketball for local team. Soukupova begun to work as a model in Prague when she was 13.
In September 2004, Soukupova was selected as one of only nine top models to appear on the cover of American Vogue in an issue that compared supermodels today to supermodels of the 80’s and 90’s heyday. Others included Daria Werbowy, Gemma Ward, Gisele Bündchen, and Karolina Kurkova. She is also been featured on the cover of Vogue such as Italian Vogue, China Vogue, Russian Vogue and in Nippon Vogue and also on the covers of Harpers Bazaar, ELLE, Spur.
Soukupova is represented by IMG ModelsWorldwide. Besides being a model, Soukupova likes to stay in shape by punishing the punching bag she has installed in her in her Brooklyn apartment. In her free time she indulges in her artistic side by attending pottery classes in Chelsea.
Soukupova has modeled for Gucci, BVLGARI, Escada, Balenciaga, Max Mara, Tse, Dior, Jill Stuart, Carolina Herrera, and Versace. She is currently the face of Gucci Envy]. She also appeared in the 2006 and 2007 Victoria’s Secret fashion show.
