Vlada Roslyakova (Russian: Влада Рослякова; born Elena Roslyakova on 8 July 1987 in Omsk, Russia), is a Russian supermodel. When Roslyakova began modeling she changed her name from Elena to Vlada, so she wouldn’t be confused with fellow model Elena Rosenkova.
Vlada (the name she goes by now) formed her name from her father’s first name, Vladimir. The name change came after realizing she shared her firstname with a fellow model. She began modeling as a child in Russia and then began modeling in Tokyo. But once she came to New York City, she began modeling for more well known designers and became very well sought after. Although she almost quit modeling, after her very first show, Spring 2004 Yohji Yamamoto, due to fear, she decided to pursue it. On January 15, 2007, Time magazine cited Roslyakova as one of the dangerously underweight models who could be banned from Milan for her low body-mass index, along with other models. Vlada says she’s “naturally skinny”.
Her ad campaigns include Nina Ricci, Moschino Cheap & Chic, D&G, Vera Wang bridal, Burberry Blue Label, Hermès, Miss Sixty, MaxMara, Christian Lacroix, Dolce & Gabbana, Jill Stuart fragrance,Jill Stuart Beauty, DKNY, Karl Lagerfeld, and Lacoste. She has also been the muse for designer Christian Lacroix. In the September issue of Harper’s Bazaar, Vlada was styled as Grace Kelly in Rear Window, alongside fashion designer Michael Kors, in an editorial.
Her agencies include Women Management, Eskimo Model Management - Paris Models 1, MY Model Management, and Voice Models, Tokyo.
Vlada has said that she is interested in studying psychology and if not for modeling, she would be at a university studying. (NYmag.) In interviews (backstage) she has mentioned that she enjoys classic Russian food during her down time, like blinis. She has also mentioned sushi and smoothies, as her favorite foods. Vlada has said that she enjoys reading classic Russian books and enjoys the fantasy aspect. She keeps them in her bag quite often. She also enjoys club music. Aside from the weight topics on TV and Newspapers, she keeps a low profile.
